Welcome to the website of the Liberal Party of Gibraltar.

This contains political and constitutional information about Gibraltar generally as well as detailed policies of the Liberal Party. You can also find the latest press releases issued by the liberals in Gibraltar and by the official Opposition of Gibraltar of which we are a part.

The party was formed in 1991. We are the only party in the history of Gibraltar to belong to our corresponding international political organisations. We have close links with the European liberal family (ELDR) and the international liberal political family. The party is a full member of liberal International. Our youth wing is a full member of the liberal Youth Movement of the European Union (LYMEC) and the International Federation of liberal and Radical Youth (IFLRY).

The four main international liberal organisations that we belong to have adopted resolutions in favour of self-determination for Gibraltar. To achieve the decolonisation of Gibraltar through the principle of self-determination is a core political objective of the Liberal Party of Gibraltar. We are proud to say that this is something that has the official support of liberals across Europe and across the World. These resolutions can also be found on this website.

The last general elections in Gibraltar took place in October 2007. The liberals in Gibraltar are part of the official Opposition. The next elections are expected in 2011 and the party is now looking forward to the challenges of Government.
